Sons of Liberty Operating Procedures
Our Bismarck chapter will throw four large events per year and will hold four open meetings per year. These eight events will be all hands on deck.
In addition to the eight events, SOL will divide itself into committees that will handle all other necessary work. Each committee will be chaired by one a board member or officer. All board members must chair one committee. The president and vice president will both be vice chair of every committee to provide oversight. SOL members will be encouraged to join committees that are of interest to them.
All committee chairs will give a committee update to members during open meetings. They can also ask for funds at open meetings. More committees can be added as we grow and as needs arise, but will not activate without a chair and enough volunteers or funds to be successful. Committees are listed below:
Sons of Liberty Committees
Quarterly Events Committee – All hands
Responsible for quarterly event organization.
- Annual state-wide raffle
- Children’s business fair

Education Committee
Responsible for organizing all educational events and programs. Ideas: CGM ND face-book group Federalist Anti-Federalist debate study.
Grassroots constitution courses in living rooms or outside venues. Occasionally organizing educational events and inviting speakers.
Socials Committee
Responsible for organizing all social events.
Ideas: Pot luck socials, Pre-post event socials
Open Meetings Committee – All hands
Responsible for organizing our quarterly open meetings. Meetings will rotate through Bismarck, Lincoln, Mandan, Bismarck. Will be scheduled a little while after our quarterly events.
Tables Committee
Responsible for manning tables at events and growing membership. Reports to the secretary.
ND Course Committee
Responsible for gathering necessary information for the creation of a North Dakota constitution course.
FB Page Committee
Responsible for keeping our face-book page up to date and posting information gathered from other committees and from the parent chapter. The chair of this committee is also a member of the presence committee.
Newsletter Committee
Responsible for creating a monthly newsletter sharing information gathered in other committees and from the parent chapter and sending it attached.
Presence Committee
…for when we need to show presence. Members must have SOL shirt.
School Board Committee
Responsible for attending applicable school board meetings, writing a summary and sending the summary to the newsletter committee.
City Council Committee
Responsible for attending applicable city commission meetings, writing a summary and sending the summary to the newsletter committee.
County Commission Committee
Responsible for attending applicable county commission meetings, writing a summary and sending the summary to the newsletter committee.
District Political Committee
Responsible for attending applicable district meetings, writing a summary and sending the summary to the newsletter committee.
Creative committee
Responsible for the creation of or for the obtaining of memes, flyers ect for events, programs and the like. Also works with language committee to create literature, tri-folds, ect.
In-Betweens Committee
Responsible for organizing our voluntary ‘leadership only’ in between meetings. These should be business and fun.
Overpasses Committee
Responsible for organizing overpass events for approved causes.
BARK Committee
Responsible for attending BARK meetings incognito, writing a summary and sending the summary to the Secretary.
Legislation Committee
Responsible for following legislative session and scoring bills.
Newspaper Committee
Responsible for publishing articles when needed.
Podcast Committee
Responsible for overseeing the SOL Podcast
Language Committee
Finalize all language used on flyers, posters, tri-folds ect.
Sheriff Course Committee
Responsible for educating county sheriffs and deputies on the limits of power and proper functions of the office of county sheriff.
Home-school Committee
Responsible for organizing a periodic constitutional event targeting home school children teaching them founding principles. (accredited program preferred)
IT Committee
Responsible for techy stuff.
